by Karuna Devi
Eight sacred fish arranged in an intricate dance formation — a beloved motif in Mithila tradition symbolizing fertility, prosperity and the auspiciousness of water. Executed in the Kachni style with exceptionally fine hatched lines and cross-hatching that gives each fish a unique texture while the overall composition flows as one dynamic circular rhythm. The border carries the traditional double-fish motif that appears on wedding invitations across the Mithila region.
